This is a Medley of (5) five grape varieties. This Red is one of the lead wines to come onto the market from this ‘remarkable’ vintage. Arguably the best growing season Long Island has ever seen. Reds have always been Russell Hearn’s strength, long time Winemaker from Pellegrini Vineyards. That Estate, year after year, has turned out rich, full flavor wines that continue to age gracefully.
This cross blend of Bordeaux and Rhone varieties mingles lush fruit forward flavors and full-bodied ‘fine’ tannin. It is earmarked with an aggressive use of Petit Verdot in the blend and rounded out with soft silky fruit flavors from Cabernet Franc and Shiraz. Big and bold with moderate alcohol not to overwhelm the palate.
Tasting Notes
Deep, dark, almost inky magenta in color. Dark stone fruit gush from the glass. Black cherry, dark plums, blackberry and some blueberry jam. Lush mouth-filling mid palate of soft supple tannins, with a hint of spicy flavors peaking through from the Petit Verdot and Shiraz. Fine tannins frame a long, lingering finish.
