The Finger Lakes region cool climate enjoys warm days which allow complete ripening while the cool nights retain the crisp natural acidity. The ‘shale’ mineral soils throughout this region compliment the pure fruit expression of this variety and rival fine German Rieslings. This Riesling is made entirely in stainless steel and fermented cool (62 F) to accentuate the ‘minerality’, no malo-lactic secondary fermentation and bottled early to retain a zingy vibrant acidity.
TASTING NOTES
Light yellow in color, hints of floral carnation petals and white peach are apparent in the aroma. Firm acidity gives the wine a mouth watering appeal. It has a pleasant, zingy mid-palate. The mineral/flinty character is intermingled with orange peel and citrus notes and finishes with crisp acidity. It is a perfect complement to shellfish and seafood.
