Long Island, New York. Produced and bottled in Sagaponack, New York. Under Winemaker/Technical Director Roman Roth’s meticulous care, Wölffer Estate Vineyard encompasses 55 acres and practices sustainable agriculture. Similar in many respects to conditions in Bordeaux, the local Bridgehampton sandy loam soil, combined with the breeze from the Atlantic, only 2.6 miles away, provides the perfect conditions to achieve the ripeness and acidity necessary for producing Wölffer’s signature style: European elegance combined with the typicity of their Long Island terroir.
Grapes
69% Merlot, 16.5% Chardonnay, 5% Pinot Noir, 4.5% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon
Winemaker’s Notes
Light orange in color with a shiny copper hue.
The aroma is very floral with hints of a fresh cut wildflower field. The mouth is vibrant and fruit driven. The fresh, ripe berry notes are perfectly balanced by lively acidity and wonderful minerality. A natural and refreshing CO2 mousse is present, retained from the cold, slow fermentation process. The wine is dry and the finish is elegant and playful. This is a classic Wolffer Rose – summer in a bottle!
